Read&Write for Google has been approved for use in Rocky View Schools. While we will be running a trial in three schools, the software extensions will be available to all staff and students in RVS until June 30, 2015. Once we have evaluated the results of the trial, a determination will be made on the viability of licensing for the district beginning in September. After June 30th students will still have access to the basic account features (text to speech).
Read&Write for Google offers powerful tools to support reading and writing including:
- Text to speech (with highlighting)
- see the meaning of words with text and/or picture dictionaries
- language translation
- word prediction
- Speech to text
- Highlight text in documents or the web and collect for use in other documents
- Simplifies and summarizes text on web pages
Read&Write for Google is a cloud based and works in the Chrome browser on PCs, Macs and Chromebooks. We will also have access to the iPad app. Read&Write for Google integrates with Google Drive to provide supports for Google Docs, PDFs, ePubs and Kes (Kurzweil 3000)files.
